Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – 26 November 2006

Today, amid a confusion of colourful spinnakers, thousands of onlookers and brilliant sunshine, 223 yachts from almost 30 nations eagerly awaited the start of the 21st Atlantic Rally for Cruisers.   The atmospheric excitement which prevailed was heightened by many people in celebratory mood, singing and dancing and accompanied by brass bands from the City Hall.   And this is just the start!   Look out Rodney Bay, 2,700 nautical miles away in St. Lucia, they are on their way!
